The national online-gaming framework
The Government of India’s 22 April 2026 explanation states that the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Rules, 2026 come into force on 1 May 2026. The rules operationalise the 2025 Act and describe a process to distinguish prohibited online money games from permissible online social games and e-sports.
The government’s explanation identifies factors such as fees or stakes, an expectation of monetary winnings, the revenue model, and whether rewards or in-game assets can be redeemed or monetised outside the game. A product name or a “free download” claim does not decide the classification.

How this site stays within its stated scope
